Minister: Traffic accident rate declines
Minister of Interior Sar Kheng said traffic accidents across the Kingdom in the first quarter this year decreased by 150 times (14%) compared to the same period last year.
The number of fatalities dropped by 20 (4%), and the number of injuries dropped by 277 (17%), Sar Kheng said in a notice on Friday.
Deputy Prime Minister Sar Kheng who is also the Chairman of the National Road Safety Committee said: “The drop is because the National Road Safety Committee pushed active enforcement of laws to reduce the traffic accidents on the sharp increase last year.”
He called on the police forces, particularly the traffic police, to adhere to duties to protect the lives of people.
Sar Kheng also called on the people to obey the laws and drive carefully for travel safety.
