In an April 17 directive, the ministry has instructed public schools to collaborate with parents, guardians, and local authorities to promote distance learning and e-learning to students at home and in the community.
"The ministry encourages parents and guardians of all students to continue to encourage their children to do self-study and e-learning," the ministry said.
The Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Information signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the production and broadcast of distance learning and e-learning.
Education Minister Hang Chuon Naron wrote on Facebook on Sunday that the distance learning programs will be broadcast from April 20 on Decho TV.
He said: “students can view them through cable coverage areas in provincial and district towns, on DTV channels in rural areas, and on smartphones.”
Following the outbreak of Covid-19, schools have been closed nationwide since mid-March. Students are required to self-study at home and learn online.
State grade 9 and grade 12 examinations were postponed. But the ministry has allowed students at private schools to sit both examinations via distance learning or e-learning.
