Singapore shares smart city knowledge, experience

Singapore shared experience on smart city planning with more than 200 Cambodian officials in an effort to build capacity.
The Royal School of Administration (RSA) of Cambodia, in collaboration with the Civil Service College of Singapore, with the support of the Temasek Foundation and the Ministry of Civil Service of Cambodia, held a video conference on “Planning for Smart Cities” on July 12.
Civil Service Minister Prum Sokha, Temasek Foundation Executive Director Benedict Cheong, and, Ambassador of Singapore to Cambodia Teo Lay Cheng, chaired the conference, which was attended by Singaporean experts and Cambodian officials at both the national and provincial levels, totaling more than 200.
The organization of this international conference is part of a project to build the capacity of Cambodian officials between the Ministry of Civil Service, with RSA as the implementing agency, and the Civil Service College of Singapore, said RSA and the ministry’s joint press release on July 12.
The project is supported by the Temasek Foundation, which began in late 2019 and will be completed by the end of 2021.
In this conference, Singaporean experts shared their knowledge and experience with Cambodian officials on leadership for positive change and smart city building.
The press release said that Cambodian officials have learned about leadership in setting and achieving clear goals, learning from the past and being able to adapt to the current situation.
“[Officials] must be able to predict, be ready and take appropriate measures for future change in order to build a society of development and sustainable prosperity,” it said.
According to the press release, Prum Sokha spoke in support of ASEAN’s innovative leadership in creating a smart city network.
“Good governance of the smart city management will help all people with being livable,” he said.
The press release quoted Prum Sokha as saying for Cambodia, a strong system of governance under the leadership of Prime Minister Hun Sen has helped Cambodia overcome the Covid-19 crisis.
